All questions about how the Toronto Maple Leafs would respond after an emotional playoff debut were given a resounding answer Saturday night. Taking advantage of an undisciplined Canadiens team, the Leafs converted on 2 of their 5 power play opportunities en route to the 5-1 victory. Auston Matthews finished the night strong with a goal and 2 assists. Spezza, Sandin, Nylander, and Kerfoot also found the back of the net.
After a dominant game 1, Carey Price gave up 4 goals on 33 shots for a .879 SV%. At the other end of the ice, Jack Campbell picked up the first playoff victory of his career while stopping 22 of 23 shots for Toronto.
The series now shifts to Montreal for games 3 and 4 which will be played on back to back nights due to the prolonged North Division regular season schedule.
