Michael Bradley called a press conference on Thursday evening, and fans waited with baited breathe wondering whether the announcement was finally going to be made that the influential skipper would be leaving the club.
However, in a shocking turn of events; he wouldn’t be leaving Toronto. Instead, he has put pen to paper on a new deal, and his career in the MLS will continue with TFC.
After spending much of his career jumping around between clubs in Europe, he finally settled at life with TFC.
He enjoyed great success during his time abroad and played crucial roles with Heerenveen and Borussia Monchengladbach in the Netherlands and Germany respectively.
Bradley then went on to play for Chievo. Before being snapped up by Italian giants AS Roma. In his first season with the club, he would finish as a runner up in the Coppa Italia.
After two years in Italy, he moved to Toronto. His five-year stay at TFC thus far has been a great success. Bradley has made 163 appearances and scored eleven goals throughout his career.
Bradley has been an integral part of the success of TFC sides down the years as they have reached three MLS Cup finals in four years. He was the man to lift the 2017 championship won by the club. Fans will welcome the announcement that he will be staying put.
His talents in the middle of the park will ensure that Toronto are a leading challenger once again next season. His experience for the big occasion is second to none, and he will ensure that the younger players in this squad can excel when the new season starts.
