Within the first four minutes of play Cruz Azul demonstrated why they are a serious threat in the Concacaf Champions League this year. Brayan Angulo, following an incredible crossover, was able to thread a missile through the Toronto defenders and out of the reach of Alex Bono.

The Ecuadorian forward didn’t stop there either. Later in the first half, around the 34th minute, the Liga MX star would net his second goal of the evening. This time it would be a strike after a well-executed corner and header assist from the team’s other goal scorer Pablo Aguilar.

While Toronto FC was able to equalize the game at 1-1 with a Jonathan Osorio goal, the game was never really in reach for the MLS team. This match marked the first of two legs that the teams will play against one another. Down a two goal deficit, Toronto FC will have to be spectacular during their rematch in Mexico City.
