Following their dominant win against Columbus on Wednesday, TFC was able to finish with a draw against coach Armas’ former team, the New York Red Bulls.
New York drew first blood against Toronto FC on Saturday when Jesus Medina scored off of a perfect Gudmundur Thorarinsson free kick. After the 53′ goal, the Red Bulls were able to put the ball in the net once more in the 70th minute. This time, however, the goal was ruled a foul and overturned.
Playing their third game in a week, Toronto FC needed a spark from their rotations. That spark was none other than Jacob Shaffelburg who netted a tap-in from a wicked Mullins pass. The late goal from the Toronto player marked his first goal in the MLS.
With another point under their belt, TFC looks to recover from their initial standings position.
