In what can only be described as a disheartening loss on Sunday afternoon the Toronto Raptors looked very pedestrian.
Arguably the hottest team in the NBA bubble, the Raptors were no match for Boston in game one.
Marcus Smart and Jason Tatum scored 21 points a piece as the Celtics dominated the Raptors.
Toronto is now 0-2 against the Celtics in the bubble.
The Raptors however are undefeated in the bubble besides those two games holding a record of 11-0.
Boston has Toronto’s number.
The defending NBA champions do not match up well against the Celtics.
With so much size and athleticism on the wings Boston has the ability to overwhelm Torontos guards with size and that was clearly a factor in game one.
Fred VanVleet who has been sensational in the bubble was held to just 11 points on Sunday.
VanVleet shot just 3-16 from the floor while shooting 2-11 from three.
Pascal Siakam was pedestrian as well as he scored just 13 points on 5 of 16 shooting.
Boston was all over Toronto from the tip.
Smothering Toronto every chance they got creating turnovers and speeding the game up.
The Celtics also did the job on the glass out rebounding Toronto 50-40 in game one.
The difference in game one was three point shooting and Torontos slow start.
Boston shot 43 per cent from three while Toronto shot just 25 per cent.
The Celtics jumped out to a 39-23 lead after the first and Toronto could never close the gap.
After an emotional week that saw NBA players threaten to leave the bubble a slow start was to be expected.
Toronto will look to rebound in game two against the Celtics on Tuesday.
The time for game two has not yet been announced.
