Dawn of New Era

This past weekend was the dawn of a new era for the Toronto Raptors.

Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green suited up for Canada’s lone NBA team for the first time. They played a preseason game against the Portland Trailblazers in Vancouver.

The new Raptors are good. Super good. As a collective, they played with great ball movement, outstanding balanced scoring, and exceptional individual defence. They played while showing their sign of greatness throughout the entire game. Clearly the team has some rust to shake off, but considering Kawhi Leonard hasn’t played full tilt since January 2018, this is the first time Kyle Lowry and him have shared the stage. It will take some time for them to get comfortable with one another.

Rookie Head Coach Nick Nurse was pleased with the Raptors performance as he tinkered with lineups all game, while making sure that Kawhi Leonard and Kyle Lowry could play a full 19 minutes together. I’m looking forward to this Raptors regular season and the excitement that is sure to come this year run at the NBA Finals.

Peace,

Jason
