Toronto Blue Jays 5 Baltimore Orioles 0

The Blue Jays won their fourth game in a row Saturday night as they defeated the Baltimore Orioles.

This is Toronto’s second win in a row over the Orioles.

Taijuan Walker shined in his debut on the mound for the Jays.

Walker pitched six strong innings giving up just four hits while striking out four.

With the win Toronto improves to 17-14 on the season.

The Jays have stretched their lead over Baltimore in the AL to three and a half games.

Toronto has won 10 out its last 13 games and can start to look ahead in the standings as they are just a half game back of the second place Yankees.

The Blue Jays have shown tremendous fight during this stretch especially considering the number of injuries on the roster.

Saturday night showed that the front office is making good choices and bringing in pitching that has a bright future.

With that being said Toronto is still in need of some pitching.

Especially after another injury to Canadian reliever Jordan Romano on Saturday.

Toronto will have to add pitching at the deadline.

A right hander preferably but that is easier said than done right now.

Pitching is at a premium in this shortened season and the possibility of over paying is high.

The Jays front office will have to get creative if they want to add a pitcher who will make an impact but not hurt the Jays financially down the line.

With the 5-0 win over Baltimore Toronto is peaking at a good time as they look to move up the standings.

Toronto has two more games against Baltimore in the coming days where they can pad the gap between third and fourth.

The Jays will take on the Orioles at 3:07pm EST on Sunday.
