Toronto Raptors 112 Charlotte Hornets 109

The Toronto Raptors improved to 2-0 in preseason with a win over the Hornets on Monday night.

In their second pre-season game against Charlotte, Toronto looked impressive.

Still without the services of all-star guard Kyle Lowry Toronto turned to the bench, and they responded.

Toronto got solid performances from Terence Davis, DeAndre Bembry, and Malachi Flynn.

Raptors rookie Malachi Flynn showed out as the Raptors took down the Hornets.

Flynn finished the game with 17 points and 3 assists shooting over 50% from the field, in just 20 minutes of action.

While it is still early, it is starting to look like the Raptors found another diamond in the draft.

Toronto drafted Flynn with the 29th pick out of San Diego state in the draft this season.

Flynn’s play thus far has been impressive.

He is efficient on the offensive end, and his length and quickness make him a solid NBA defender.

Flynn plays with a confidence that many rookies are unable to muster.

“I think a lot of it comes from my teammates just telling me to be confident,” said Flynn in the postgame press conference.

Toronto also got a great performance from Fred VanVleet on Monday.

VanVleet finished with 23 points and 4 assists in 22 minutes of play.

With Kyle Lowry returning to the fold once the regular season beings, Toronto will have a stellar back court for the season.

The combination of Lowry and VanVleet is already proven, with the addition of Flynn Toronto will be able to manage the starters minutes better throughout the season.

The Raptors will now travel to Miami for their final pre-season game.

Toronto will take on the Heat on Friday at 7pm EST.
