Prior to last night’s game versus the Vancouver Canucks, it was announced that Muzzin, Reilly, Foligno and Campbell will all sit out for ‘maintenance days.’ For the Toronto Maple Leafs, who have now extended their first place lead in the NHL North Division, rest is going to be crucial.

Despite the season having fewer games, the schedule has been more condensed than ever before. That is why it is imperative to get your veteran players the rest they need before the playoffs ramp up. Fortunately, this is a luxury the Toronto Maple Leafs can afford to take.

In light of the maintenance days, Toronto built off of their Wednesday win and made easy work of the likely exhausted Vancouver Canucks. Auston Matthews netted his 36th goal of the season as the team scored four goals on just 24 shots.
