Toronto FC unable to crack New England
Toronto FC headed into Tuesdays match up with New England looking to take sole possession of first place.
TFC dominated possession against New England at ESPN’s Wide World of Sports Complex.
The Reds were all over the ball controlling sixty percent of the possession in the contest but it proved unfruitful.
Toronto was unable to crack New England keeper Matt Turner with their 5 shots on net.
TFC’s 4-4-1-1 formation provided the ability to control possession but Toronto could not produce the chances needed to find the back on the net.
Toronto now sits tied for first place with New England as both teams have a win and two draws a piece.
TFC have given up five goals so far this season which is the most in group B but Toronto has also scored the most goals in the group posting six tallies so far.
This was the final game of the group stage for Toronto.
They will proceed to the MLS’S knockout stage. Toronto will finish first in group B thanks to goals for and against, while New England could move down to third if D.C beat Montreal by two.
Toronto’s next match will be released once the other groups have finished play.
