The Toronto Maple Leafs are building momentum at the perfect time. While this team has had some notable pitfalls and slumps, it has always responded well. After a tough five-game losing streak in April, the club finally added their huge deadline acquisition Nick Foligno. Since then, the club has gone on a dominant five-game win streak.

While Foligno’s addition has been a spark, Toronto’s fire power has primarily come from its star young centre. During this recent win streak, Auston Matthews has been a scoring machine. Racking up five goals in five games, Matthews is now within 2 of breaking 40 for the third time in his career. With only five games left in the season, the Leafs superstar has all but locked up the Rocket Richard trophy – the first of his career.
