The Toronto Raptors hadn’t lost three straight games for nearly a year, but that record was smashed on Sunday night. They fell to a 110-104 defeat against the Philadelphia 76ers away from home.
Toronto trailed by 15 points at the break, and they very rarely looked to get back within touching distance of the Sixers.
They did, however, make a late charge by outscoring the Sixers 36-24 in the final period. But, it wasn’t to be, and the home side got the win.
Defensively, the Raptors once again did a good job on Joel Embiid. The centre only scored ten points in the 30 minutes that he spent on the court.
Tobias Harris led the Sixers with 26 points, while there were also 20 points for Matisse Thybulle. There was also double-digit points finishes for Al Horford and James Ennis III.
The Raptors were led by 26 points from Kyle Lowry. OG Anunoby got 19, and there was 16 for Pascal Siakam. Serge Ibaka finished with 12, while Rondae Hollis-Jefferson finished with the same number.
Toronto shot 33.3% from beyond the arc, which was below the 43.8% that the Sixers achieved. The Raptors shot 43.2% in terms of field goals, which was also lower than the 50.6% achieved by the Sixers.
The Raptors continue their road-trip with a visit to Chicago to take on the Bulls on Monday evening. Following that there is certain to be an emotional evening for Kawhi Leonard as he makes his return to the Scotiabank on Wednesday night.
Peace,
Burke.
