Toronto Maple Leafs lose to Dallas Stars 3-2
The Leafs lost another tough one to Dallas Thursday night at Scotiabank Arena.
Toronto was on the attack most of the night but were only able to crack Ben Bishop twice.
Fredrik Andersen got the start for Toronto in the loss.
This was Andersons first start in four games since suffering a neck injury.
Andersen stopped 16 of the 19 shots he faced posting a .842 save percentage.
Dallas opened the scoring in the first period on a goal from Denis Gurlanov.
The Stars would add to their lead just 24 seconds into the second thanks to a Radek Faksa goal.
The Leafs would finally get on the board 11 minutes into the second period.
Auston Matthews would score his 41st goal of the season on the power play for Toronto making the score 2-1.
The two teams would exchange goals in the third with Tyler Seguin scoring for the Stars while Zach Hyman would score his 17th of the season for the Leafs.
Ben Bishop would get the win for Dallas saving 27 of the 29 shots he faced posting a .931 save percentage.
This has been the story for Toronto as of late. The team has been unable to muster wins when it is unable to score in bunches.
The Leafs are now 30-20-8 on the season sitting in third place in the Atlantic Division just 2 points ahead of the Florida Panthers.
Florida has played to less games than Toronto putting them in a good position to make a push for third.
Toronto will now look to regroup as they head to the nations capital to take on the Ottawa Senators on Saturday night.
