It’s been a long time since I’ve written about sneakers.

I’ve been shopping and researching what’s happening in the market, but wasn’t sure when would be the right time to write a piece about what I was seeing on store shelves. But that time is now.

Last month, I was shopping at the Livestock on Roncesvalles Avenue in Toronto. I felt the store was well merchandised, and I loved the range of sneakers from Adidas, Converse, Nike and New Balance, amongst others. I was excited by what I saw from the Nike ACG collection and felt compelled to write about it.

The Nike ACG collection has been around for as long as I can remember. When it comes to most things, Nike can do no wrong – but frankly, for decades, Nike ACG and Nike SB were tough categories for the brand. Ironically, the resurgence of ’90’s fashion coupled with a resurgence for technical sportswear has created an environment where NIKE ACG –  rooted in bright colors, water-resistant materials and street folklore – have brought the brand back with a vengeance and onto shelves at Tier-1 sneaker shops like Livestock.

On this particular shopping trip, the pair that had me tripping were the Nike ACG Air Terra Antarktik, in black. The Gore-Tex ripstop upper, unique lockdown lacing and elasticated sock collar are the perfect functional aspects for an urban sneaker boot to protect you from the elements. The NIKE ACG Terra Antarktik is available at Livestock.ca for $295.00 CAD.
