Toronto Maple Leafs 4, San Jose Sharks 1

The Toronto Maple Leafs got back to winning ways in emphatic fashion last night as the humbled the San Jose Sharks to a 4-1 defeat.

San Jose went ahead in the contest after the opening period, before Toronto took control in the final period of play.

The Maple Leafs equalised in the second period, before scoring a further two goals in the final period of play to get the win.

Ilya Mikheyev, Jake Muzzin, Austin Matthews and Morgan Reilly got the goals for the Leafs.

The win certainly eases the pressure on Mike Babcock somewhat, but he will still be searching for more consistent form if Toronto are to be serious playoff contenders this year.

Kevin LaBlanc had put the Leafs behind in the opening period, but San Jose were unable to deal with attacking movement in the final third.

The Leafs take on the Montreal Canadiens in their next outing in the NHL.

Peace,

Burke.
