Edmonton Oilers 1, Toronto Maple Leafs 4

The Toronto Maple Leafs returned to winning ways last night as they reigned supreme against the Edmonton Oilers away from home.

The Maple Leafs went into their game in Edmonton off the back of a defeat against the Calgary Flames. The Flames beat the Leafs 4-2 on Thursday evening, but they were able to get back to winning ways last night.

Toronto were competitive in every period and scored in each one at least once. They were ahead 2-0 after the first two periods, before scoring twice more in the final period to claim the 4-1 win.

The Oilers did get one back in the final period, but they didn’t have much chance against the Leafs who were in excellent form in the final third.

Alexander Kerfoot scored for the Maple Leafs, while there were also goals for Mitch Marner, Frederik Gauthier and Ilya Mikheyev. Auston Matthews had five shots on goal but was unable to add to his tally for the season.

Pierre Engvall had two assists, while Kerfoot, Zach Hyman and Morgan Rielly also recorded assists.

Alex Chiasson scored the Oilers goal, but they weren’t classy enough to truly test the Leafs.

Toronto are back in action on Tuesday evening when they host the Buffalo Sabres.

Peace,

Burke.
