Gerrit Cole went to work against the Blue Jays pitching seven innings giving up just one run while striking out eight Jays batters.

Toronto has been out matched in their series with New York thus far.

The Jays have lost their last two games by a combined total of 33-8.

No major league team can win by giving up football like scores to their opponents.

Toronto looks to be in some serious trouble.

With just 12 games remaining on the season Toronto is sliding in standings.

The Blue Jays still have another four games against the Yankees before the season ends.

With playoff matchups still yet to be determined Toronto will have to find a way to get the most out of their remaining 12 games.

Toronto currently sits in third place in the AL East a game and a half behind the Yankees and four and half games ahead of the Orioles who are currently in fourth.

The Blue Jays will look to rebound when they take on the Yankees on Thursday.
