Toronto put forth a much better effort against the Yankees on Thursday night but it was not enough.
The Blue Jays gave up double digit runs for the third game in a row.
It was a tough series for Toronto as they gave up 43 runs in three games to the Yankees.
Toronto’s pitching staff was no match for the Yankees hitters.
The Blue Jays defence was porous and the Jays hitting was non existent.
While Toronto played very well this season, the series against New York showed that the MLB is controlled by a small number of teams.
Money talks in the MLB, and teams like the Yankees who spend ample money on player salary’s showed the Jays why.
Toronto sent Julian Merryweather to the mound on Thursday.
Merryweather lasted just one inning giving up two runs on two hits.
Pitching was a struggle for Toronto in the series.
Chase Anderson would replace Merryweather, and Anderson was outmatched.
Anderson gave up seven runs on eight hits in just 2.2 innings of work.
Game, set, match. The final nail in the coffin for the Blue Jays in their series with the Yankees.
Going into the series Toronto was looking to expand their second place position in the AL East.
Coming out of the series Toronto is firmly placed in third and will have to fight to hold on to their playoff position.
With just eleven games remaining on the season Toronto is in for some tough sledding.
Toronto will look to get back on track when they take on the Phillies on Friday.
The Jays will play two games back to back against the Phillies on Friday.
