Toronto Blue Jays 1 New York Mets 18

The Blue Jays got completely demolished on Friday night versus the New York Mets.

Under the lights at Sahlen Field in Buffalo; Toronto was completely out of sorts against the Mets.

The Jays Pitching was ineffective, their defence was poor, and hitting was non-existent.

Toronto sent Chase Anderson to the mound on Friday and he did not last long.

Anderson pitched just two innings giving up four runs on four hits.

The Jays pitcher could not get it going against the Mets and New York jumped all over his offerings.

Toronto replaced Anderson with Anthony Kay and he faired no better.

Kay did not last the inning as he gave up five runs on four hits.

With Toronto’s poor pitching New York jumped out to an early lead.

That was all Starter Jacob Degrom needed on Friday night.

Degrom pitched six innings giving up just one run on three hits while striking out nine Jays batters.

Toronto’s bats were non-existent against the Mets thanks to Degrom.

Only four Jays had hits on Friday night with Cavan Biggio being the only Jay with two.

On the plus side Toronto welcomed back closer Ken Giles from the injury list on Friday night.

Giles pitched one inning giving up two hits a run while striking out two.

Torontos loss puts them just half a game ahead of the Yankees in the AL East.

The Jays have two more games against teh Mets in the coming days.

Toronto will look to put forth a much better effort in game two on Saturday night.

Game is set for 6:37pm EST.
