Toronto FC got back to its winning ways on Sunday night against Miami.

The Reds went into Sundays match having lost their last two games.

With the season quickly coming to a close Toronto was in desperate need of a win.

Hoping to catch Philadelphia for the top spot in the MLS, Torontos victory on Sunday is a crucial three points moving forward.

Toronto was able to battle from behind against Miami as a late penalty kick lifted Toronto to victory.

Alejandro Pozuelo stepped up in the 84th minute and put the penalty away for the win.

The Reds had fallen behind early against Miami as Blaise Matuidi scored just before the end of the first half.

Toronto made some key adjustments coming out of the locker room and were able to respond quickly in the second half.

Ayo Akinola scored in the 55th minute to draw the match level for Toronto.

Toronto came out in a 4-2-3-1 formation to matchup against Miamis defensive 5-4-1 formation on Sunday.

The Reds controlled the possession throughout the match. Holding 59% of the ball throughout.

Toronto completed 187 more passes than Miami on Sunday.

While Toronto’s possession only generated 3 total shots on net, Toronto was able to make the most of their chances.

With the win TFC is once again tied with Philadelphia for first place in the eastern conference.

Both teams currently have 44 total points on the season.

Philadelphia is much further ahead in goal differential though so if the season ended today Philadelphia would finish on top.

Toronto has one final match to close out the season. TFC will host the New York Red Bulls on Sunday November 8th.

The Reds will need a full three points from the match.

Toronto will also need the Union to either lose or draw their match against New England on Sunday as well.

If Philadelphia loses and Toronto wins or draws they will finish ahead of Philadelphia.

If the two sides remain tied in points Toronto will finish behind Philadelphia.

Sundays match for Toronto and for Philadelphia is set for 5pm EST.
