Raptors Tie Lowry Down To One-Year Extension

Kyle Lowry has finally put pen to paper on a new deal that will see him stay at the Toronto Raptors.

The news will be welcomed with a breath of fresh air as the Raptors couldn’t have handled another high-profile departure following the loss of Kawhi Leonard to the LA Clippers.

Lowry has been an invaluable player for the Raptors ever since moving to Canada, and his experience was vital in delivering the very first NBA championship last season.

Meanwhile, Lowry’s agent, Mark Bartelstein, was delighted that the talks went as well as he would have hoped.

He told ESPN: “We are so appreciative of how Masai and Bobby handled every aspect of this negotiation. Once again, they displayed how they look after their players in a first-class manner, especially someone like Kyle, who they recognize has such a legacy with the franchise.”

The former all-start joined the Canadian side seven years ago and is the longest-serving player on the current roster.

He spoke on social media about the lack of hesitation that he had to commit. As he admitted his heart is in Toronto and he could never bring himself to leave.

The legacy that the Raptors achieved last season was largely down to the part that Lowry played, and he stands for everything that is brilliant about this franchise.

His performances have also not yearned, as he made 67 appearances last season and averaged over four points a game. He didn’t miss a second of the post-season games, and continued with the same average until the bitter end when the crown was finally won.

His performance in game six of the finals is one that will always go under the radar. He scored 26 points in that game, and Raptors fans across the world should be delighted that he is staying put.

Peace,

Burke.
