Toronto Blue Jays 4 Washington Nationals 6

The Blue Jays split their four game series with the Washington Nationals after a 6-4 loss on Thursday.

With the loss Toronto now falls to 3-4 on the pandemic shortened season.

The Jays loss means they now fall into fourth in the AL East.

With a shortened season due to COVID-19, Toronto will need to make every game count if the young Jays hope to make the playoffs.

Toronto’s big off season signing Hyun-jin Ryu struggled on the mound Thursday night.

Ryu had five strikeouts but gave up nine hits and five earned runs in just four innings of work.

Toronto’s star shortstop Bo Bichette returned to the lineup Thursday after sitting out with a hamstring injury earlier in the series.

Bichette went 2-5 in his return.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr struggled for the second game in a row against Washington going 0-4 in the DH spot.

Washington used six pitchers in the contest after a short start from Erick Fedde, who gave up six hits and two runs in three innings work.

Toronto was supposed to travel to Philadelphia for a four game series with the Philadelphia Phillies but those games have been postponed.

After the COVID-19 outbreak in the Miami clubhouse earlier in week the MLB has decided to postpone the games of the teams involved.

Due to the fact that Miamis opponent at the time of the outbreak was the Phillies all Phillies and Marlins games have been put on hold.

Toronto’s next scheduled games as the schedule stands will be in Atlanta against the Braves on August 4th.
