Toronto Maple Leafs beat the New Jersey Devils 7-4
The Leafs are back in the win column, after beating the New Jersey Devils at Scotiabank Arena on Tuesday night.
Toronto had been struggling heading into the matchup dropping their last three games.
John Tavares opened the scoring for Toronto just five minutes into the first period.
Toronto would add two more goals in the period from Gauthier and Hyman to take a commanding 3-0 lead.
The Leafs superstars came to play in the contest.
John Tavares had a big night having 3 points in the game with a goal and two assists.
Auston Matthews added a hat-trick in the contest scoring three goals in the game, none more beautiful than a deflection goal on a feed from Mitch Marner.
Toronto’s other top forwards Nylander and Marner finished the game with two assists a piece.
The Leafs were also 50% on the power play on the night going 2 for 4.
Frederik Andersen had a bounce back game besides letting in three goals in the third.
Andersen had been pulled in the Leafs last game. Andersen finished the night with a .862 save percentage saving 25 of 29 shots.
New Jersey was able to mount a bit of a come back in the third, but were unable to rally. Blake Coleman had a hat-trick for the Devils while Will Butcher added three assists.
Toronto now awaits a matchup with the Calgary Flames, the two teams will clash Thursday night at Scotiabank Arena.
