Toronto Maple Leafs take down Canucks 4-2

The Maple Leafs won their second in row Saturday night after defeating the Vancouver Canucks 4-2.

Toronto came out strong against a good Vancouver team Saturday night.

The Leafs out shot and out chanced the Canucks at home on their way to a big victory.

Toronto out shot the Canucks 29-27 in the game while controlling the face off circle winning 54% of the draws.

With the win Toronto increases its lead over the Panthers in the Atlantic division.

In a pursuit of a playoff berth Toronto gained some much needed points with the victory.

The Leafs were able to pull away late in the contest Saturday night thanks to goals from Martin Marincin and Zach Hyman.

Hyman’s empty net goal sealed the game late in the third period for Toronto.

The first period of the contest saw four goals, two for both sides.

Toronto’s goal scorers in the first were Frederik Gauthier (2:45), and Auston Matthews (6:25).

Vancouver goal scorers in the first were Tyler Motte (5:28), and Tanner Pearson (11:01).

Frederik Andersen got the start for Toronto in the win saving 25 of the 27 shots he faced posting a .926 save percentage.

Vancouvers Thatcher Demko got the start in net saving 26 of the 29 shots he faced posting a .869 save percentage.

With the win Toronto improves its season record to 35-23-8, holding a 5 point lead of the third place Florida Panthers in the Atlantic.

Toronto will look to increase its lead once again on Wednesday when they take on the San Jose Sharks.
