After splitting their 4-game set against Boston, the Toronto Blue Jays roster began another divisional series on Tuesday. The Jays went back and forth with the New York Yankees for the majority of the game, with things squared at 5-5 after 7 innings. Once again, the Blue Jays players in the bullpen couldn’t get it done, as the Yankees scored the game-winning run in the 8th.
Starter Hyun Jin Ryu pitched for 6 innings, allowing 5 hits and 3 runs while earning 3 strikeouts. The Toronto Blue Jays bullpen picked up from there, giving up 3 runs on 4 hits over the rest of the game.
Bo Bichette led the way offensively with 2 hits, including his 14th home run, and 3 runs batted in. MLB offensive phenom Vladimir Guerrero Jr. struggled, going 1 for 4 at the plate. Fans will hope for better Blue Jays news in game 2.
The Toronto Blue Jays game today will be played in New York.
