The Toronto Blue Jays dropped another game against the New York Yankees, falling to 4th in the MLB’s AL East Division. After wicked-hot offensive play last week, the Blue Jays players have slowed down. They carried a 2-1 lead into the 7th, with homers from Marcus Semien and Cavan Biggio, but New York’s Gary Sanchez hit a 2-run shot to give the Yanks the lead.
Ross Stripling was strong for most of the evening, allowing only 3 hits and striking out 9. But the Yankees managed to score 3 runs off those hits, giving Stripling his 4th loss of the year. The bullpen component of the Blue Jays roster had a solid game, striking out 3 and allowing one hit over the final two innings.
In good Toronto Blue Jays news, the team’s schedule contains plenty more matchups against divisional opponents to help keep playoff hopes alive. The Blue Jays game today will be played in New York.
Blue Jays schedule: @BlueJays vs @Yankees Thursday June 17th at 7:07pm.
