The Toronto Maple Leafs enjoyed a successful night in Vancouver as they scored twice in each of the final two periods to secure a second victory on the bounce.
There was a brace for John Tavares, while he also added an assist. Austin Matthews scored for the second consecutive match, while Zach Hyman also got his name on the scoresheet.
Cody Ceci also added an assist for the Leafs, while Frederik Andersen made 39 saves. He was, unfortunately, unable to keep hold of his clean sheet as Josh Leivo beat the keeper in the final period.
The result meant that the Canucks were unable to secure a third straight victory. It also meant that the Leafs were able to improve their record to six wins and three defeats under the stewardship of Sheldon Keefe.
The new Maple Leafs coach has enjoyed a fine start to his professional career in the NHL, but there is still work to do if the Leafs are going to be considered as challengers for the Stanley Cup.
Toronto went two up in the second period through the goals from Matthews and Tavares. Leivo pulled one back for the Canucks at the start of the third period, before Tavares and Hyman restored the healthy advantage for the Maple Leafs.
Toronto have now moved up to fourth in the Atlantic Division, and boast a league-best two-match winning run.
The Leafs have a rest day now before taking on the Calgary Flames on Thursday evening away from home.
