Toronto Maple Leafs 5, Buffalo Sabres 3
The Toronto Maple Leafs made it two wins in two, and three wins in four with a brilliant display against the Buffalo Sabres on Tuesday evening.
The Leafs were dominant throughout the game, and went into the final period with a 3-0 lead. They improved on that with two further goals, and that was vital considering they allowed the Sabres back into the game with three goals of their own.
That final Sabres burst was the only blemish, on what was otherwise a brilliant display for Sheldon Keefe’s side.
Toronto were dominant, and their goals were scored by Frederik Gauthier, Ilya Mikheyev and Dmytro Timashov.
However, the star of the game was Auston Matthews. He scored twice, with one of his goals being an outrageous piece of skill.
The Leafs win came hot off the heels of their success against the Edmonton Oilers, and they will look to continue this run of form when they face the New York Rangers on Friday night.
Rasmus Dahlin, Jack Eichel and Kyle Okposo scored the goals for the Sabres in the final frame. Meanwhile, the Leafs got 30 saves from Frederik Anderson. However, the late bust of goals for Buffalo ensured that there was no shut out.
The Leafs are back at the Scotiabank on Saturday when they face the Detroit Red Wings.
Peace,
Burke.
