Toronto Raptors game against the Oklahoma City Thunder on Sunday evening should have been a celebration of an unforgettable 2019 that the Raptors have achieved.
In that time, Toronto have become NBA champions, but their performance on Sunday was nowhere near that same level. Instead, they succumbed to a home defeat against the Thunder.
Toronto were behind after the first period. However, they were able to compose themselves to get back into the lead by outscoring the Thunder in the second and third periods.
However, Toronto were lacklustre in the final period and were outscored 22-17 to lose by one on the evening. The defeat means that the Raptors have now lost eleven this season.
Pascal Siakam was once again missing for the Raptors. Toronto were led by 20 from both Kyle Lowry and Fred VanFleet. Patrick McCaw scored 13 points, while there was 12 for Serge Ibaka.
Terence Davis scored 11, and there was nine and six points for Chris Boucher and OG Anunoby respectively.
The Thunder were led by 32 points from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, while Chris Paul also scored a brilliant 25 to exemplify the high-scoring ability that the travelling side posses.
Toronto were successful on 42.2% of their efforts from the field, and also scored all 12 of their efforts from beyond the arc.
The Raptors will now close out the year against the Cleveland Cavaliers on New Year’s Eve.
