After a five day break the Blue Jays came out flat against the Braves on Tuesday.
As Toronto continues its extended road trip to begin the pandemic shortened sixty game season, the Jays continue to struggle.
The Jays manufactured just fives hits in Tuesdays game against Atlanta.
Toronto’s young core has been very up and down so far this season.
Bo Bichette and Cavan Biggio struggled at the plate Tuesday going 0-7 collectively on the night.
The good news for Toronto is that Guerrero Jr was finally able to get out of his hitting slump.
Guerrero went 2-3 on Tuesday batting in the DH spot.
Matt Shoemaker got the start on the mound for the Jays in a less than impressive start.
Shoemaker went just four innings surrendering six hits and six earned runs.
Atlanta broke the game open in the fifth inning with a two run home run from third baseman Austin Riely.
Atlanta would go on to score four runs in the inning.
Which was plenty of run support for Atlanta’s starter Max Fried.
Fried pitched six innings on Tuesday giving up just four hits and one run, while striking out three Blue Jays batters.
With the loss Toronto now moves to 3-5 on the season.
Toronto now sits five games back of the first place Yankees in the AL East.
The Jays sit just one game ahead of the Boston Red Sox who are currently in last place in the AL East.
Toronto will look to bounce back against the Braves on Wednesday when the two teams will clash again.
Game is set for 7:10pm EST.
