Toronto locks up Nurse long-term

The Toronto Raptors announced Tuesday that they have signed head coach Nick Nurse to a long-term extension.

Details of the contract have not been released but indications are that Nurse will be the coach of the Raptors for a long time.

Nurse, the reigning NBA coach of the year has earned his place in the NBA more than most.

The Raptors bench boss has led the Raptors to a championship and the eastern conference semi-finals in his first two seasons at the helm.

Toronto finished the pandemic ridden 2019-2020 season with the second best record in the NBA at 53-19.

The Raptors were among the best teams inside the NBA bubble.

While Toronto fell short of a championship this season it was a successful year none the less.

The Raptors proved that one player does not make a team.

After Kahwai Leonard left in free agency this past off-season many thought Toronto would tank.

The Raptors showed what hard work and defence can do for a team in the NBA.

Nurse has led the Raptors in the right direction and has the respect of not only his team but with all teams in the NBA which will only help Toronto pursue free-agents.

“Our confidence in Nick just continues to grow, and part of that comes from what we’ve experienced together, Nick has proved that he can coach on the court and lead in life, and we’re looking forward to accomplishing great things in the future,” said Raptors president Masai Ujiri.
