Connor McDavid put the league on notice once again as he handed the Leafs an overtime loss on Saturday night.
With time running out in overtime McDavid scored a beautiful tip in goal on a feed from Leon Draisaitl.
This was the second goal of the game for McDavid who scored a masterful goal earlier in the game.
McDavid sliced through several Leafs early in the game scoring a beautiful coast to coast goal showing once again why he is held in such high regard.
The Leafs despite the loss were happy with the overall performance as they were coming to the end of a long road trip.
This is just the second loss on the season for Toronto who now hold a record of 7-2-1 and sit in first place in the north division.
Goals for the Leafs against Edmonton were scored by Nylander (1), Matthews (1), and Zach Hyman (1).
Edmontons goals were scored by McDavid (2), Josh Archibald (1), and Dominik Kahun (1).
Toronto put Fredrik Andersen between the pipes once again on Saturday night.
Andersen stopped 27 of the 31 shots he faced. His counter part Mikko Koskinen stopped 26 of the 29 shots he faced.
Toronto now gets some much needed time off as they prepare for a hectic February schedule.
The Leafs next game is against the Vancouver Canucks on February 4th.
