Toronto Maple Leafs take down Dallas Stars in 5-3

The Leafs went in Dallas Wednesday night looking to take down the Stars who sit in 3rd place in the Central Divison.

Toronto started on the right foot taking the lead on an Auston Matthews goal 12:18 into the first.

With the goal Matthews now has 36 goals on the season putting him just one goal behind David Pastrnak for the league lead.

Dallas would even up the game less than five minutes later on a goal from Denis Gurianov.

In the second period the Leafs really turned it on, scoring twice in the first twelve minutes of play.

Goals in the second for Toronto scored by Zach Hyman (4:40) and Tyson Barrie (11:58).

Dallas would add a goal late in period from Alexander Radulov (19:02) to make the score 3-2.

William Nylander opened the third with a goal assisted by Muzzin and Kerfoot giving the Leafs a two goal cushion.

With the goal Nylander scored his 2nd goal in two games giving him 24 goals on the season.

Radulov (6:26) would score again for the Stars to keep it close down the stretch, until Johnsson sealed it with an empty net goal for Toronto.

Frederik Anderson had another solid outting saving 31 of 34 shots on net. posting a .912 save percentage.

With the win the Leafs are off 2-0 since the all-star break.

Toronto still currently sits in 4th place in the Atlantic but move one game closer to the 3rd place Florida Panthers.

The Leafs will now head back home where they will await a matchup with the Ottawa Senators.

Toronto will look to continue its hot start on February 1st.
