Following a spectacular comeback from the Toronto Maple Leafs last night against the Calgary Flames, Toronto looks to extend its points streak as well as its standings lead.

As great as Michael Hutchinson was, the Leafs looked nervous following the two goals against him. This lack of goalie confidence has been a huge problem for the club in the midst of a series of goaltender injuries and poor performances. But Jack Campbell’s emergence has brought a stability in net that the Leafs could only dream of.

In his 8 starts this season, Jack Campbell is a perfect 8-0 and for good reason. The 29-year-old, former first round draft pick is stopping pucks at a .951% clip and is only allowing 1.35 goals against. The one concern with Campbell is that it seems as though he is playing through injury.

The Toronto Maple Leafs are favoured by -150 in tonight’s 9:30PM EST matchup. Catch this Western Canada showdown on SNW, SNF, and TSN4.

In what became an unpredictable, sloppy third period performance, the Toronto Maple Leafs pulled off an impressive win on the road along with a few major outcomes. The most important result to come from this game was the Toronto power play.

Entering this game with an NHL worst power play through the month of March, the Leafs needed to get something going. And finally it happened. On an almost random Matthews rebound the Leafs broke their streak of 29 consecutive scoreless power plays.

The Leafs were also able to improve their league-leading away record to 14-6-3. Despite the lack of fans, scoring on the road continues to be an exhausting and difficult effort. Looking ahead to the playoffs, this could be an invaluable skill for a pandemic-affected post-season.

Thirdly, Jack Campbell has tied the Toronto Maple Leafs franchise win streak for a starting goalie with nine straight victories. Winning four games in a row, the Leafs now look to reclaim their dominance in the NHL North Division.
