New York Islanders 5, Toronto Maple Leafs 4

In a battle between two team’s in contrasting form, it would have come as little surprise that the team that picked up the win was the one that hasn’t tasted defeat for a number of weeks.

The New York Islanders managed to hang on to beat the travelling Maple Leafs 5-4.

Anthony Beauvillier scored a brace for the Islanders. The other goal scorers on the night were Derick Bassard, Matthew Barzal and Casey Cizikas.

The victory means that the Islanders have now gone a staggering 12 games without defeat. The is the sort of record that Mike Babcock and his side could only dream about.

They have now lost their last three. The goals in the attempted comeback were scored by William Nylander, John Tavares, Kasperi Kapanen and Justin Holt.

It was a much better performance than we have seen recently as for once there was at least a bit of fight in the Leafs.

Peace,

Burke.
