The Toronto Maple Leafs are exiting the deadline a new team. Having traded away several draft picks, the team has accrued depth at almost every position. Big names like Reilly Nash and Nick Foligno, both from the Columbus Blue Jackets, bolster the depth of an already talented forward squad. Similarly, in recent Leafs News, the team also made a last-minute deal with the Anaheim Ducks for defensemen Ben Hutton. If that wasn’t enough, Toronto Maple Leafs GM Kyle Dubas made another splash during the NHL trade deadline by acquiring Calgary Flames goalie David Rittich.

All of these moves cement one thing: Toronto is all in. After three consecutive, disappointing postseason runs, both Kyle Dubas and Brendan Shanahan are committed to a deep Stanley Cup battle. All of the moves the Toronto Maple Leafs made indicated that depth was key. From leadership to physicality to simply extra bodies, the Toronto Maple Leafs were able to add several qualities to their team without detracting from their current pool of prospects.

Following a hectic and discombobulated performance on Saturday, the Toronto Maple Leafs (-135) aim to best their feisty division rivals the Montréal Canadiens in tonight’s 7PM EST showdown on TSN2 and TSN4.

Despite an impressive comeback in the second period, the Leafs didn’t have the fire power to beat Jake Allen and the Montréal Canadiens. The Toronto Maple Leafs were due for this type of game. Unlike their previous five contests, Toronto did not even hit the 30 shot marker tonight. And while this outcome is disappointing, nothing is more disheartening than the Maple Leafs Power Play.

1 of their last 36, the Toronto Maple Leafs have the NHL’s worst power play. Which may seem inconceivable considering that Auston Matthews, the league’s leading goal scorer by 9 goals, is on the team. Hopefully, with some new faces entering the lineup, the Toronto Maple Leafs can reset their play and their winning streak.
