Toronto Blue Jays 2 Miami Marlins 3

Starling Marte started his Marlins career off with a bang on Tuesday.

With the game tied in the eighth inning, Marte stepped up to the plate to take on Blue Jays Shun Yamaguchi.

Marte would hit a homer to lift the Marlins to a win over the hot Jays.

The loss is Toronto’s second loss in a row.

Toronto made a number of moves at the trade deadline on Monday and they were working in a number of new members on Tuesday.

Pitcher Robbie Ray made his debut for Toronto in the loss.

Ray pitched 3 1/3 innings in relief of Julian Merryweather.

Ray, who came over in a trade with the Diamondbacks on Monday.

The Jays newest weapon gave up two runs, and four hits.

The other Jays acquisition Jonathan Villar, who Toronto traded for from the Marlins at the deadline made his debut Tuesday.

Villar drove in the first run of the game with a grounder in the first.

His debut was not perfect though as Vilar committed the error that put the tying run on in the sixth.

Toronto will look to work in their new pieces and see where they fit best in the coming weeks.

The Jays will also soon be getting back star short-stop Bo Bichette.

With a lot of moving parts going on, the Jays will have to find a way to keep their play at a high level.

Toronto sits 2.5 games above Baltimore for a playoff spot right now and cannot afford to slip.

The Jays will look to get back on track on Wednesday when they take on the Marlins again.

Game is set for 6:40pm EST.
