Buffalo Sabres 6, Toronto Maple Leafs 4

The honeymoon period for Sheldon Keefe is finally over as he was handed a first professional defeat at the helm of the Toronto Maple Leafs last night.

Mistakes were the biggest concern for Keefe, and Michael Hutchinson should have done more with all the goals that he conceded in the 6-4 defeat against the Buffalo Sabres.

The performance was more resonate of what we would have come to expect under Mike Babcock as there were plenty of defensive lapses.

The back-up stopper would have had to shoulder an awful lot of the blame in the defeat, and the Leafs missed Frederik Anderson.

The Sabres goals were scored by Victory Olofsson, Casey Mittelstadt, Jack Eichel and Jeff Skinner.

The defeat was made slightly easier due to Toronto getting goals of their own. John Tavares netted a brace, while Dmytro Timashov and Kasperi Kapanen added goals too.

Peace,

Burke.
