Toronto Blue Jays 5 Tampa Bay Rays 7
It was a tough night for the Blue Jays on Sunday.
The game played Sunday between Toronto and Tampa was supposed to be played on Saturday but that game was postponed due to weather.
Toronto led the Rays 2-0 going into the fourth inning Sunday.
The Blue Jays looked to be in the drivers seat throughout the game, until the wheels fell off in the fourth inning.
With two on, two outs, and two strikes Blue Jays pitcher Matt Shoemaker threw a sinker tracing the edge of the plate.
The Blue Jays pitcher felt good about the pitch and started walking toward the dug out expecting a strike out.
The umpire behind the plate felt differently calling a ball.
A clearly frustrated Shoemaker would go on to give up a home run just two pitches later to Tsutsugo.
Shoemaker would continue to argue with umpire Vic Carapazza after the fourth inning; Earning himself an ejection from the game.
It was all down hill for Toronto from there.
Blue Jays manager Charlie Montoyo would also get tossed from the game after Shoemaker.
The ejections coupled with a costly misplay by Teoscar Hernandez made for a very frustrating evening for Toronto.
Frustration has been building for the struggling Jays and on Sunday that frustration boiled over.
Toronto has lost four of its last six games and have been struggling all season.
When it Rains it Pours…
With the losses mounting the Jays got more bad news on Sunday.
Toronto will be without star rookie Bo Bichette, who will now be out for up to a month with a knee injury.
The Jays will have to come together and find a way to string together some wins as they now head back out on the road.
Toronto will now head to Baltimore to face the Orioles who sit 3.5 games ahead of the Jays in the AL East.
First pitch is 7:35 pm EST on Monday.
