Toronto Raptors 130, New Orleans Pelicans 122

How good is it to have the basketball back for a new season? If the Toronto Raptors opening night is anything to go by, then, it could be a thrilling season in store.

The Raptors needed overtime to overcome the New Orleans Pelicans on opening night, as they eventually ran out 130-122 winners.

The visiting side needed to look on as the Raptors players collected the NBA championship rings before the game, as fans looked on in amazement for a night they never believed would eventually come.

Toronto looked like a side that were champions, and they were led to the win by Pascal Siakam who scored 34 points in the big win. Kyle Lowry added 22, while Fred VanFleet was the biggest surprise of the night as he registered 34 too.

There was also double digit returns for OB Anunoby and Serge Ibaka, who scored 11 and 13 respectively.

However, the Raptors needed the additional time to overcome their resolute opponents.

Once the extra period began, the Raptors looked like they had the legs to cement the win, and that was precisely what happened.

Toronto outscored the Pelicans 13-5 in the additional period to start the season with a big win in front of the adoring Scotiabank fans.

Peace,

Burke.
