Toronto Raptors 102, Boston Celtics 118
The Toronto Raptors lost for the second consecutive night. The 118-102 defeat was a huge disappointment for the Raptors on their first ever Christmas Day game at the Scotiabank.
Toronto started very slow and were 28-19 behind after the first period.
The Raptors were outscored in two of the four periods, and their late comeback effort was in vain as the Celtics held on.
The Celtics did the most damage in the third period as they outscored the Raptors 33-22.
Toronto were led by 27 points from Fred VanFleet. Chris Boucher scored a career high 24 points.
Only two other players scored more than ten points for the Raptors. Kyle Lowry scored 14 points, while Serge Ibaka finished the evening with 12.
Jaylen Brown scored a game high number of points as he ended with 30. Kemba Walker scored 22 points, and there was 14 points for Gordon Hayward.
Jayson Tatum. Daniel Theis and Enes Kanter also scored more than ten points.
Toronto averaged 47.5% of their efforts from the field, while they only scored 34.8% of their efforts from beyond the arc.
Toronto can get immediate revenge when the two meet again on Saturday evening in Boston.
