TFC 3-0 Ottawa Fury
Much of the hard work was already done by Toronto FC before Ottawa Fury visited for the return leg on Wednesday evening. TFC held a clear 2-0 advantage from the first leg. But still, the home side wasn’t about to rest on that scoreline.
Fury attempted to come out of the gate quickly, and they were made to rue that decision when Toronto caught them on the break and Nick DeLeon was allowed freedom to pick his spot to put the home side ahead 1-0 on the night. From that point, there was to be no comeback story. TFC scored another two goals to stamp home their superiority.
DeLeon was a shining star for the home side as he played a part in all three goals. He set up Patrick Mullins for the second, before scoring the third himself. His return to form would have undoubtedly pleased Greg Vanney.
The win in the semi-final will see TFC take on Montreal Impact in the final, and Toronto will be looking for their fourth straight title. Meanwhile, Impact will be looking for their first success since 2014. The final will be a rematch of the classic in 2017, which TFC ran out 3-2 winners on aggregate.
