TFC 1:1 Orlando City

It was the case of a missed opportunity for TFC on Saturday evening, as they had the chance to leapfrog into the playoffs while also opening up a gap between themselves and the next closest side in Orlando City. However, they were made to pay for their wasted opportunities by the ruthless Orlando.

Despite registered ten shots at goal, it was Toronto that went behind after 69 minutes. Benji Michel pounced on some lacklustre defending before calmly placing his finish beyond the reach of Quentin Westberg. However, TFC didn’t give up and got the deserved equaliser less than ten minutes later.

It was the very least that the home side deserved. Patrick Mullins capped his cameo from the bench with the goal. Mullins’ goal could be crucial when we look back at the end of the season, but it did ensure that TFC didn’t end the evening a further place away from the playoff places.

However, Toronto was incredibly wasteful in front of goal and spurned five glorious opportunities. TFC bossed the game from the early minutes, and Alejandro Pozuelo was instrumental. It would seem that his teammates were not on the same wavelength as the Spaniard and he cut a frustrated figure when the full-time whistle sounded at the end of the game.

Toronto are back in action on Thursday for the second leg of their clash with Ottawa Fury. Before returning to MLS action with a match-up against the Columbus Crew on Saturday evening.

Peace,

Burke.
