Toronto Maple Leafs 3, Tampa Bay Lightning 7

It was a damaging night for the Toronto Maple Leafs last night as they were humbled by the Tampa Bay Lightning at the Scotiabank.

The Leafs were never able to get into their groove and conceded at least once in all of the periods.

The first of which was the most damning as the Leafs conceded four. However, they managed to find the net on three occasions themselves, but their offence stopped after that.

The Lightning didn’t stop and were able to grab seven more goals to inflict an embarrassing defeat on Mike Babcock and his team.

Austin Matthews, Andreas Johnson and John Tavares got the goals for the Leafs. But, they were outplayed and outbattled for the entirety of the match.

The Lightning scored one goal in the second period and then added another two for good measure in the final frame.

Nikita Kucherov was the star of the show, as he scored twice and made two assists in the big win. He was a menace for the Maple Leafs defence, and they have no answer for his attacking movement.

The Leafs will have an immediate chance to get back to winning ways when they take on the Detroit Red Wings tomorrow.

Peace,

Burke.
