NHL selects Toronto and Edmonton as hub cities for restart

The NHL is set to announce that Toronto and Edmonton will become their hub cities for the season restart.

The NHL’s return to play plan would see twelve teams from each conference play in the two hub cities.

According to NHL insiders Elliotte Friedman and Chris Johnston;

The Western Conference teams will play in Edmonton and the Eastern Conference will play in Toronto.

Las Vegas, Chicago and Los Angeles were the other hub cities still under consideration by the NHL.

Vancouver, Columbus, Dallas, Pittsburgh and Minneapolis/St. Paul were also considered earlier in the process.

The NHL’s restart in Toronto and Edmonton is still contingent on the NHL and NHLPA coming to an agreement on the new CBA.

The proposed deal will see a flat salary cap for two seasons a deferral of player salaries at 10% and the ability for players to opt out of playing this summer if they choose.
