Ottawa Senators 4, Toronto Maple Leafs 3

The season hasn’t even started yet, but already the Ottawa Senators are feeling pretty good about themselves after beating the Toronto Maple Leafs on back-to-back nights in St John’s.

Brady Tkachuk’s goal wound up being the winner as the Senators held on for a 4-3 win on Wednesday night.

Connor Brown, Max Veronneau and Tyler Ennis also scored as the Senators stayed unbeaten in pre-season.

Auston Matthews didn’t miss a step as he scored twice for the Leafs on his season bow in Newfoundland.

Meanwhile, Nick Shore also scored.

Toronto were trailing 2-0 before they cut the deficit as Morgan Rielly before beat Anderson.

However, it wasn’t to be for the Maple Leafs as Ennis restored the lead for the unfancied side in St John’s. Ottawa got off to a good start taking a 2-0 first period lead with goals from Borowiecki and Veronneau.

Peace,

Burke.
