D’Antoni Believes Raptors Are Still A Threat

It has been a summer of change at the Toronto Raptors following the departure of Kawhi Leonard to the Los Angeles Clippers.

However, one man that believes it is too soon to rule out the Raptors as potential NBA champions is Houston Rockets coach Mike D’Antoni.

Speaking to media outlets, he said: “I wasn’t surprised that they (won the title), they were a really good team. Anytime you have the team that they had and then they added Marc Gasol halfway through the year, you know they’d be really good.”

They’re one of the teams again, that even without Kawhi Leonard will be contending for a title. They have a lot of players that can play. Now, will it be harder? Maybe. Kawhi is obviously Kawhi, but they’ll still be one of the top teams (in the NBA).”

With Leonard, the Raptors were able to accomplish the impossible. Without him, nobody really knows what to expect, and that’s what makes the coming season so intriguing.

With guys like Gasol, Kyle Lowry, Serge Ibaka, and Fred VanVleet, the Raptors have quality veteran stars that most teams would die for. Meanwhile, In Pascal Siakam, they have their “star” of the future and the next face of their franchise, and he will need to have a big season if Toronto are going to excel.

Will it really be enough to compete? Only time will tell.

Peace,

Burke.
