Carlos Vela saved the blushes of LAFC on Saturday evening as he scored a stoppage-time goal to lift Los Angeles FC to a 1-1 draw against Toronto FC. However, the point means that TFC have now clinched their playoff spot and can begin to plan their route in the post-season competition.

Meanwhile, Tsubasa Endoh gave TFC a 1-0 advantage after 19 minutes. His shot from 12 yards out at the edge of the left side of the box was assisted by Jozy Altidore. However, Vela tied it at 1-1 for Los Angeles on a penalty shot. This came in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time.

However, the home side weren’t as classy as they had been in the early season, but they did manage to outshoot TFC 17 to 8. This included five shots on goal to one for Toronto.

LAFC drew 11 corner kicks, but committed 11 fouls and were given one yellow card. Toronto drew four corner kicks and committed 10 fouls. They were also given one yellow card.

Meanwhile, Vela remains in the lead for the MLS Golden Boot. The Mexican is ahead of Zlatan Ibrahimovic of LA Galaxy. The Swede also managed to find the back of the net on Saturday.

Next up for TFC is a match against the Chicago Fire next Sunday.
