Buffalo Sabres 5, Toronto Maple Leafs 3

Victor Olofsson scored twice, including the game-winning strike with 2:36 remaining, as the Buffalo Sabres topped the Toronto Maple Leafs 5-3 in Buffalo on Saturday evening.

Jimmy Vesey, C.J. Smith and Sam Reinhart also scored for the Sabres, while Carter Hutton saved 31 shots.

Trevor Moore, Pierre Engvall and John Tavares scored for the Maple Leafs in the defeat. Meanwhile, Michael Hutchinson was charged with the loss as he allowed two third period goals over nine efforts.

Michal Neuvirth had started the match, and he saved 20 of 22 shots in the opening two periods. Michael Hutchinson had seven saves on nine shots during the third.

Ultimately defensively, the Leafs have a long way to go with their veteran players, and there is a reason to be concerned ahead of the season start.

Despite the goal, Tavares, and Mitch Marner were all at fault for the three goals against. Meanwhile, Jake Muzzin and Ben Harpur were also showed up on the ice for two goals each.

Peace,

Burke.
