Toronto Raptors 107 Los Angelas Lakers 92
Toronto’s first official game back started with a strong showing of support for social justice.
Both the Raptors and Lakers kneeled collectively for the American and Canadian national anthems.
Toronto took an early 10-0 lead in the first quarter. The Raptors looked to be firing on all cylinders.
Facing off inside the NBA bubble at ESPN’s world wide sport complex, the two playoff bound teams battled like it was a playoff game.
After a four month hiatus due to the covid-19 pandemic, Toronto looked good against the Lakers.
The hiatus came at a good time for Toronto, as the Raptors were riddled with injuries.
Biggest of those injuries being Marc Gasol’s hamstring, which is now perfectly healthy after four months of rest.
With all of Toronto’s players healthy the Raptors will look to gel as they play their eight seeding games before the playoffs begin.
But if Saturday is any indication it wont take very long.
Torontos defence was in sync and the offence was flowing.
Kyle Lowry did it all for Toronto on Saturday scoring 33 points while adding 14 rebounds and 6 assists.
Time and time again Lowry made the big play. Hitting big threes, taking charges and as always putting in maximum effort.
Toronto also got a big performance from O.G. Anunoby, who kept Lebron James in check while adding 23 points and 4 rebounds.
With the win Toronto proves what NBA analysts have been saying.
The Raptors have a chance to win the eastern conference in the playoffs and possibly win another NBA championship.
Look for Toronto to make some noise in the bubble in more ways than one.
Toronto will now have a two day break before facing off against the Miami Heat on Monday afternoon.
Tip off is 1:30pm EST.
